P.A. Line

Uncle Ben's Remedy

Band members: Trever Stribing, Lucas Honig, Josh Ackerly

Band bio: The bass player, Lucas Honig, and the lead singer, Trever Stribing, have been through a series of bands over the last seven years. Everything came together when they had a jam session with a multi-talented individual, Josh Ackerly. Since these three have stepped on stage they have created their own love to the local folk music scene of WNY.

Why you should win the Artvoice.com Online Battle of Original Music: We wish to truly connect with our hometown. We play two local shows a week, just to ensure we have a strong crowd for the event. We love WNY and want to support other artists as well as our fans through our music. Buffalo will always be our home, and we are ready to show the world who Buffalo creates.

Band members: Ben Westlund - vocals, acoustic guitar, kazoo / Harmony Griffin - resonator, banjo, mandolin / Shawn Huestis - piano, accordian, fife, melodica, trumpet, vocals / Boc - upright bass / Jim Royce - percussion, vocals

Band bio: Ben, Harmony and Jimmy grew up hanging out at family band practices, soaking in the sounds of the Allman Brothers, Johnny Cash, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Merle Haggard. This rock and roll background is quite evident in Uncle Ben’s live show and the audience reaction. “It’s sort of like the old time country, says Jimmy; “that rock and roll energy kind of gets in your blood and it ain’t easy getting out.” They recently released their debut record, “Yesterday’s Clothes.”

You might like us if: ...you like Devil Makes 3, John Prine, Avett Brothers, Merle Haggard and Country Music that isn’t on the radio.

Why you should win the Artvoice.com Online Battle of Original Music: Maybe we are not. It ain’t up to us. We are writing music that matters to us, that makes us move, that rattles our hearts around in their cages. If it ain’t your bag, that’s fine too.
