Artvoice BOOM: Battle of Original Music - BOOM III (2008-2009) Archive
Welcome back to the third annual installment of our online Battle Of Original Music, or BOOM for short. (Get it?) For those of you who are unfamiliar with our battle of the bands for the information age, here's how it works: Local original music acts visit Artvoice.com and submit a photo, an mp3, and fill out a brief questionnaire. Each week, two bands were featured on-line and in the pages of Artvoice, and our readers voted on their favorites. Every four weeks, we'd gather up the top vote getters for a live showdown, with a winner walking away from these events as voted on by the crowds in attendance. While the on-line voting is finished, there's one more of these quarter final events to go - and the biggest event of all - the grand finals where all our quarter final winners face off to see who takes the top prize.
If you've missed any of the action along the way, we're going to keep the profiles and music of all 32 bands archived below for a while to come. Take some time to enjoy the wealth of musical talent our area has to offer - give these acts a listen, and support your local music scene! All our BOOM contestants are more than worth the cover price at any venue around town so get off your butts and check them out in person, too. This year's BOOM! is all wrapped up for now. We'll be getting a new one going in the not too distant future. For now, join us in congratulating TypeRelevant for taking the grand prize package at the grand finale this past May 15th at the Tralf.
