Congratulations to our BOOM 2010-1011 Winners: The Etchings!
This edition of BOOM began all the way back in mid October of 2010 - nearly 6 months ago. We narrowed a field of close to 100 band submissions sent through this page, to 32 weekly contestants spread across four rounds. The votes were cast on-line and half the bands were left standing to play at one of four Quarterfinal shows. Fans turned out in person at each of the four shows to support their favorites and a winner emerged from each show, leaving us with our final four: The Etchings (round 1), The Funky Beets (round 2), The Andrew J. Reimers Country-Punk Extravaganza (round 3), and Steel Keys & Brass (round 4).
Congratulations to The Etchings who were crowned this year's BOOM winners at the Tralf this past May 13th. They received the most votes from a crowd of over 400 attendees, making this year's BOOM finale the best yet - and one of the closest contests yet - only about a dozen votes separated first through fourth place on the night! Artvoice would like to sincerely thank all four bands for their performances, and everyone who came out to support our local music scene - you all made for a memorable evening and a memorable contest.
Once again thank you to everyone who's submitted, participated, voted, played, and attended. All the bands who have participated along the way are deserving of kudos and accolades for all the hard work they're all putting in, all the time. The bands that participated are but a cross section of the music scene here in Buffalo, and there's a ton of great local music below for you to discover. Even though this year's contest is over, you're strongly encouraged to explore the bands below to listen and learn about all the great talent we're surrounded with in this town.
